Best IVF Clinics in Los Cabos (and Where Cabo Patients Actually Go)
Wondering what “verified” and “best” mean on this site? Read our methodology →
The Short Answer: No Listed IVF Clinic in Los Cabos
We don't list an IVF clinic in Los Cabos, and we won't pretend otherwise. San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas have private hospitals and gynecologists, but we have not found a clinic there with its own embryology lab that meets our listing criteria.
That matters because IVF is a lab procedure. Eggs are fertilized, cultured and frozen in an embryology lab, and the lab is roughly half of your outcome. A gynecologist who "offers IVF" without a lab is sending your eggs, or you, somewhere else.
The good news: Los Cabos International (SJD) has nonstop flights to three of Mexico's main fertility cities. For most patients, IVF from Cabo means one short domestic flight, not a medical-tourism expedition. If you run a clinic in Los Cabos with its own lab, tell us about it and we will look at it.
Where Los Cabos Patients Go for IVF
Three cities cover nearly every case. The clinic counts below are this directory's own, and "COFEPRIS on file" means we hold the accreditation for that clinic — not that the others lack it. Flight times are approximate nonstop times from SJD.
| Destination | Clinics we list | COFEPRIS on file | Published IVF prices | Flight from SJD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tijuana Most price transparency; all 9 confirm English | 9 | 2 | $5,000–$10,200 (3 clinics) | About 2 hours |
| Guadalajara Large market, lower cost of living | 13 | 1 | From $10,000 (1 clinic) | About 1.5–2 hours |
| Mexico City Deepest pool of subspecialists for complex cases | 55 | 17 | $2,500 and $5,282 (2 clinics) | About 2.5 hours |
The published-price column is the honest weakness of all three. Mexico City lists 55 clinics and two of them publish a number; Guadalajara lists 13 and one does. Tijuana is the only one of the three where you can compare several quotes before you pick up the phone.
Puerto Vallarta is a fourth option with a single listed clinic, though from SJD it usually means a connection — see Best IVF Clinics in Puerto Vallarta.
Which Destination Fits Your Situation
- You live in Cabo or Baja California Sur and want the most transparent pricing: Tijuana. Three clinics publish a starting price and two have COFEPRIS registration on file with us. See Best IVF Clinics in Tijuana.
- You are an American who splits time between Cabo and Southern California: Tijuana again. You can do the monitoring from San Diego and the procedure across the border, which turns the cycle into day trips rather than a stay.
- Your case is complex — recurrent loss, a known genetic condition, repeated failed transfers: Mexico City. Fifty-five listings is the only pool in the country deep enough to find a subspecialist in a narrow area. See Best IVF Clinics in Mexico City.
- You want several clinics in one city at a lower cost of living: Guadalajara. BioFertility Center is the only Guadalajara clinic with COFEPRIS registration on file with us, though it quotes on request rather than publishing a price. See Best IVF Clinics in Guadalajara.
- You are a visitor planning a Cabo trip around treatment: do the cycle in a fertility city and recover in Cabo afterwards. Ask your doctor when it is safe to fly after retrieval and after transfer before you book anything.
Note what none of these bullets claims: that one clinic is better than another at making embryos. Mexico publishes no mandatory outcome data, so nobody can rank clinics on results honestly. What the directory can show is how much each clinic has documented — COFEPRIS accreditation, a published price, confirmed English-speaking staff and a street address — and that is what the counts above measure.
Can Any Part of the Cycle Happen in Cabo?
Often, yes: the monitoring. During stimulation you need blood tests and ultrasounds every few days, and many Mexican clinics accept those from a lab near your home. That is how most US patients do the bulk of a cycle remotely.
If you live in Los Cabos, ask your chosen clinic whether it will accept monitoring from a local private lab or gynecologist, and exactly which tests it needs. If the answer is yes, you only travel for the retrieval and, later, the transfer. See remote monitoring for IVF in Mexico for how to set that up.
What cannot happen in Cabo, as far as we know, is the retrieval, fertilization, embryo culture, freezing or transfer. Those need an embryology lab, and that is the thing the city does not have.
Cost Comparison: Nearby Cities vs the US
Approximate 2026 ranges. Only the published Tijuana, Guadalajara and Mexico City prices in the table above are quotes we actually hold — the ranges below are editorial estimates for planning, and your final cost depends on the city, the clinic, your protocol and your medications.
| Treatment | Tijuana, Guadalajara or CDMX (USD) | Typical US (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Basic IVF (no meds) | $4,500–$10,200 | $12,000–$20,000 |
| IVF with medications | $6,500–$11,000 | $20,000–$30,000 |
| IVF + PGT-A | $8,500–$14,000 | $25,000–$38,000 |
| Donor egg IVF | $10,000–$17,000 | $35,000–$55,000 |
| Frozen embryo transfer | $1,500–$3,200 | $3,500–$5,500 |
From Cabo, add a domestic round trip plus four to seven nights' lodging for a retrieval trip, and two to four nights for a frozen transfer. Every price we hold is on what IVF costs in Mexico.
Red Flags When Searching "IVF Los Cabos"
Searching for IVF in a resort town turns up more marketing than medicine. Walk away if you see:
- A "Los Cabos fertility center" that cannot tell you where its embryology lab is, or whose answer is the name of a city.
- A medical-tourism agency that will not name the clinic until you pay a deposit.
- A clinic that will not give you its COFEPRIS registration number.
- A success rate with no age breakdown and no definition of what it counts.
- Any guarantee of a pregnancy or a baby.
- A med-spa or wellness centre bundling IVF with other procedures.
How to Build Your Shortlist
- Pick a city first using the section above. The city decides your flight, your lodging and most of your price range before any clinic does.
- Pull that city's clinics from the directory, where each listing carries its own contact details.
- Ask each clinic for its COFEPRIS number and check REDLARA's public member list yourself.
- Request itemized written quotes from three clinics, with medications, anesthesia, freezing and storage on separate lines.
- Book video consults with the physicians, and send your records before the call so the conversation is about your case.
- Ask about monitoring in Cabo and get the clinic's instructions in writing, including which tests and on which cycle days.
- Price the whole trip: flights from SJD, lodging near the clinic, and a companion for retrieval day.
Questions to Ask Before You Commit
- Will you accept monitoring bloodwork and ultrasounds from a lab in Los Cabos?
- What is your live birth rate for my age group, and who verifies it?
- How many IVF cycles does your lab run a year?
- How many days do I need to be in your city for the retrieval, and for the transfer?
- What is excluded from this quote?
- How do you handle complications once I have flown home to Cabo?
- What are your embryo storage fees, and for how long are they fixed?
Travel Logistics from Los Cabos
- Flights: SJD has nonstop domestic service to Tijuana, Guadalajara and Mexico City. Book refundable fares — retrieval dates move with how you respond to medication, and they move late.
- Getting to SJD: 20–45 minutes from San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, depending on traffic on the corridor.
- Time in the treatment city: four to seven days for a retrieval if your monitoring is done at home, two to four days for a frozen transfer.
- Documents: Mexican residents need their usual ID for a domestic flight. Visitors from the US and Canada need a valid passport.
- Season: hurricane season runs June to November on the Baja peninsula. Ask your clinic what happens to your cycle if a storm closes the airport, and keep your dates flexible.
- Medications: you can usually buy them in the treatment city, which is where they are cheapest. Ask whether you can start injections in Cabo before you travel.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an IVF clinic in Los Cabos?
Not one that we list. We have not found a Los Cabos clinic with its own embryology lab that meets our listing criteria, so patients fly to Tijuana, Guadalajara or Mexico City. If that changes, this page changes.
What is the closest IVF clinic to Los Cabos?
By flight time, Guadalajara and Tijuana are roughly tied at about 1.5–2 hours nonstop from SJD. Which is closer in practice depends on the day's schedules more than on the map.
How much does IVF cost for a Los Cabos patient?
The three Tijuana clinics that publish a price charge $5,000–$10,200 per cycle before medications, which is the widest set of published prices near Cabo. Add a domestic flight and several nights' lodging on top.
Can I do my monitoring in Cabo?
Often, yes. Ask your clinic whether it accepts bloodwork and ultrasounds from a local private lab, and get its instructions in writing before your cycle starts.
Can I recover in Cabo after my transfer?
Many patients do. Ask your doctor about flying and activity limits before you book the return leg, because the answer depends on your procedure and how it went.
